Same Grace, Different View

New year, new view. So I’m a little late. I intended to kick off the new year with the new view from insert grace here. Got a little sidetracked.

You’ll notice not a whole lot has changed. Same ocean waves, same grace inserted here daily, just a different view.

Lots of changes are going on here at home as well.  The view for 2010 includes lots of baby bottles, dirty laundry, burp cloths, burp cloths and more burp cloths, baby swing, bouncy seat, diapers, wipes and more burp cloths.  There’s also lots of army bags lying around as we wait for Trey’s phone call informing him it’s time to head to Camp Shelby, Mississippi for Iraq training.  The very important matter of Power of Attorney for Gavin should they both be deployed has delayed his training.

But soon he’ll be gone and Cammie will be job hunting. I’ve made a decision that will include a huge change for our family this year. Since I’ll be keeping Gavin for Cammie while she works and eventually begins college, I’ve decided to return to my role as Nanny. Nanny as in keeper of small children. I’ll be doing a mother’s-day-out type childcare.  From my past experiences, I’ve found this provides the flexibility I need for my own family.

Sophie will continue preschool and learning things like the basic fundamentals for beginning Kindergarten in the future as well as the Word of God which are far more important things than expanding her use of my cell phone.  Seriously, she has now graduated to voice texting although she hasn’t mastered the technique of sending her texts to the appropriate person. Nothing like receiving a text from a friend asking me if I meant to send her a message with Sophie talking. A message from Sophie to Joe’s mom.  I only wish I knew how to upload the recording.  It’s quite entertaining.

In other family news, Courtney will turn 17 this Saturday, the 23rd.  These days, between school, work and dance, there is little evidence of her existence.  Well, except for the trail of clothes she leaves behind or the occasional blur of her form dashing in and out of the house.  Slow down, child.  Stop and enjoy the view. Save the attempts at perfecting multi-tasking for motherhood.  Who am I kidding? Don’t even try.  I don’t think it was meant to be perfected.

Joe is seeking out possibilities for a job change. We sincerely covet your prayers as we seek direction.

Lots of changes for 2010. But one thing remains unchanged—the grace of God.  In spite of the daily trials in our lives, desperate pleas for prayer from friends and family all over and even the overwhelming needs in Haiti—Jesus Christ is still the same.

I am sensing in my spirit that it’s time for God’s people to begin taking Him at His Word.  Regardless of circumstance, His Word never changes.  His Word never fails.

So 2010 includes a different view—and thanks to my brother-in-law, Jerry—so does insert grace here.  But the grace is still the same.

Also, thanks to Jerry, the daily happenings of Sophie will include a new Sophie Avatar . . .

TADA!

After all, she does provide me with a lot of material.
