For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. Romans 1:16
I recently heard someone repeat this statement that they had heard:
“I believe in the concept of Christianity. I just haven’t met any Christians.”
How sad.
I don’t know the man who said that. But I know this: I am a Christian—a follower of Christ. It is by grace that I am saved. I am not perfect. But I serve The One Who IS!
That statement shook me up. I thought a lot about how we as the Body of Christ have a responsibility to share the One Who saved us with a lost and dying world. And we don’t have time to sit idle. We must be about the Father’s work.
And then I thought about the many Christians that I know that are all part of the Body of Christ. His hands, His feet, His body. And I praise Him for them all!
I thank Him for the group of ladies who gathered around me tonight. Those who wrapped their arms around me and prayed for me and the needs surrounding trying circumstances that have recently unfolded. These women and I attend different churches. Most of them did not know me before I joined their Bible Study last October. But we are bound together with chords that cannot be broken. These women wept with me. They loved on me. And the Spirit of the Living God moved in our midst. And love covered me.
“Love covereth.” I was reminded of this during our study tonight as Beth Moore spoke.
“Love covereth.”
What an awesome God! I thank Him for moving through my Christian Sisters tonight.
I thank Him for loving me through my Christian mother who prays fervently. You can read and learn more about her through the powerful poem that my sister, Ginger, posted here.
I thank Him for loving me through my Christian father and family members. I thank Him for loving me through many of you. Though many miles apart, I feel a closeness and kindred spirit with some of you as if we’ve known each other for years. Again, I thank Him for each of you.
I thank Him for my Christian husband who loves me and loves Christ. Who keeps on in spite of the many setbacks and blows of the enemy.
And I thank Him for my Christian friends who love me. Those who would show up at a moment’s notice on my behalf. Those who have been there through good and bad.
Together, “WE” are the Body of Christ. And I love each one of you. YOU are making a difference. In the midst of turbulent times, collapsing economies, moral decay, and endless needs, when men’s hearts are failing for fear—you are making a difference. As we go forth in His power standing firmly on His Word we will tear down strongholds in His Name.
Tonight, I’m so thankful for the reminder that WE are in this together!
I love you all!
Yours in Him,

I needed this also. Thank you for remembering the love of God & for reminding us to remember it too…
“Oh, love of God, how rich and pure!
How measureless and strong!
It shall forevermore endure—
The saints’ and angels’ song.”

Healing rain is falling down. Get ready to be saturated! Nothing but good can come from this as we follow Him in obedience and prayer.
My heart is with you.

Rena,
Truth. This blog post is nothing if it is not TRUTH. The truth of God as revealed in His Word. Thank you for drawing it out so clearly. I am behind you in prayer, my friend.

So true, Rena! I hear similar phrases a lot, specifically dealing with why people don’t go to church — because the people in church are hypocrites. That’s what I am told, and it’s like a slap to my face each time.
Nobody’s perfect. I’d hate someone to meet me on a bad day and judge me because of that. But there ARE people in church who are just there to socialize, but I (and this is a recent overcoming, lol) am there to WORSHIP, and no one can take that away from me except myself.

Lois Lane – When people say “I’d go to church, but there are too many hyprocrites” I’m so tempted to say – “It’s ok, we’ve got room for one more.” Or to ask them if they still go to walmart – because I’m sure there are plenty of hypocrites there!
Seriously – the simple fact is, God is good all the time! People are fallible, and strangely enough He chose us to make up the Church. What a plan…

Laura,
I emailed Lois Lane and told her THE SAME THING about Walmart. Mom always says that.
The Word tells us the wheat and tares will grow together. You’d think it wouldn’t be such a mystery to people.

I just lost my father a week ago 17th March 09. This message brought tears streaming down. We need constant reminder of God’s Love and our love for each and every one of us as brothers and sisters in Christ.
